PLATELET RICH PLASMA
PRP injections have been safely used in many fields including sports medicine, orthopaedics and cosmetics. Blood contains plasma, red cells, white cells and platelets. Inside platelets contain granules which contain growth factors. During the healing process, the platelets are activated then release the granules which contain growth factors which stimulate the inflammatory cascade and healing process.
PRP can be used in the treatment of many musculo-skeletal injuries including that of tendons, muscles and joints.
Aesthetically, PRP is used to rejuvenate and slow down the aging process of the skin. Case studies reported in Europe and Asia have demonstrated consistent rejuvenation of facial aging, including wrinkling in persons with modest grades of photo- or chronological aging.
Patient selection is important and skin diseases have to be excluded. Improvement of skin texture and tone can be expected, these features are noticeable within 3 weeks, and the process can be enhanced by addition of appropriate Cosmeceutical.
Typically 2 or more injections are required, separated by 4-6 weeks apart. This may vary depending on your injury and skin condition. Benefits include non-allergenic properties and ease of administration.
