Frequently Asked Questions

How long do dermal fillers last?

Results are immediate, however, you may experience swelling and bruising for up to 2 weeks post-treatment. Each person is unique and your body will slowly break down dermal filler differently to others. On average, dermal fillers generally last 9-12 months, with some people experiencing longer results.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Receiving dermal fillers does not generally cause any considerable discomfort. Depending on the treatment area, numbing cream or ice may be topically applied before the treatment starts. Some areas are quick and comfortable enough to not require numbing at all.

Some people may experience post-treatment side effects such as swelling, redness, skin sensitivity and tenderness. These side effects are temporary and should resolve in time.

Who can/cannot get dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers aren’t advised for pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, those with an allergy history, certain medical conditions, or specific medications. A consultation with our doctors will be conducted prior to any such treatment to determine suitability.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal fillers are considered to be safe. At Everything Skin, we only use brands that are TGA-approved. Just as with any procedure, your provider will discuss potential risks and concerns prior to your treatment.

What happens after my treatment?

After your treatment, your injector will go through the post-procedural instructions and aftercare information, including tips for how to manage pain, clean the area, and treat the area. If you are experiencing any pain, it is best to take paracetamol. Avoid alcohol, intense exercise, direct UV exposure, and the use of skincare or makeup for 24 hours after the procedure. If you have any questions or concerns after your dermal filler treatment, please reach out to our team. Effects from the dermal filler treatment can include but are not limited to swelling, bruising, tightness to the area treated, and mild discomfort.

What is dermal filler?

Dermal filler is a non-surgical, minimally invasive cosmetic treatment designed to restore lost volume. It helps to smooth and soften the appearance of lines and folds, assists in contouring the cheeks and jawline, and is also used to rejuvenate and build volume to a particular area. The clear gel typically referred to as hyaluronic acid or HA filler is a biocompatible substance that is gently injected into the skin with a very fine needle or cannula to best disburse and place the product to create the desired result.

Which areas can you treat with dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are extremely versatile and used to treat several areas including lips, tear troughs (under eye hollows, lines and dark circles), cheeks, temples, nose, nasolabial folds, marionette line, deep frowns, chin and jawline, and decolletage.

Can dermal fillers be used to target the perioral area to treat asymmetry?

At Everything Skin, our team of experienced professionals specialise in personalised treatments to enhance your natural beauty and restore balance to your smile, including dermal fillers. Dermal fillers, such as hyaluronic acid-based injectables, can be strategically placed to add volume, redefine lip borders and correct asymmetry. This non-invasive procedure provides natural-looking results and minimal downtime.

What's the difference between dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are used to relax the muscles and tend to focus on the upper face, while dermal fillers are used to restore volume and treat the mid to lower areas of the face.

What's the different between dermal fillers and thread lifts?

Whilst both procedures are non-surgical and minimally invasive the downtime can depending on which area is treated. A dermal filler treatment takes approximately 15-30 minutes with costs starting at $500, compared to thread lifts that can take approximately 45 minutes with costs starting at $2,000.
